Nazi gold hunter says he has found missing treasure worth £350m stolen in Second World War

A WORLD famous chamber decorated in amber panels backed with gold leaf that was stolen from Russia in the Second World War could have been found in a secret Nazi bunker.

Museum curator Bartlomiej Plebanczyk believes he has discovered a previously unknown underground room as he conducted a search of a complex of Nazi tunnels and bunkers.

Two Metal Detectorist friends found tons of coins worth upto £10milion [Shocking]

The 300-year-old Amber room, which was located in Catherine Palace, near St Petersburg, disappeared more than 70 years ago with several witnesses claiming they saw it being loaded into a German ship.

But Mr Plebanczyk claims his discovery could in fact be the missing treasure that was once known as the eight wonder of the world - along with containing a haul of stolen Nazi gold.

His hidden room - measuring two metres by three metres - has never previously been recorded in any study of the warren of bunkers in the Mazrian Lake District, which contains one of the best-preserved complex of undamaged Nazi bunkers and barracks.

The area was suspected to contain a secret building in the 1950s, after the Nazi commander of East Prussia Erich Koch hinted at its existence while he was jailed after the war.

At the height of its power, the secure complex - which even had its own Panzer tank division on call - was thought to be an impenetrable fortress where looted treasures would have been safe.

Now Plebanczyk is seeking permission to drill down into the mysterious new room so he can lower a video camera to inspect the contents.

He told local media: "Then the sappers came to blow up random locations in the foundations of bunkers, but they found nothing.

"But I used ground penetrating radar, so I could discover the treasure."

He added: "We need to drill into the room in the bunker and lower a camcorder there.

"However, we have to wait for the consent of the conservator conservation officials."
