Explorers find $1 million in gold coins and chains from the Spanish ship 1715 Fleet that shipwrecked off the Florida coast on July 31, 1715.
A Florida man made the find of a lifetime when he uncovered gold coins and artifacts worth just over a million dollars. The diver made the discovery among the wreckage of a 1715 Spanish fleet that sank in a storm off the Florida coast three centuries ago.
The diver, Eric Schmitt, found the not-so-deep sea treasure located just off Fort Pierce, nearly 130 miles north of Miami. The find included 51 gold coins of various denominations and 40 feet of ornate gold chains.
